The pictures below show some of the different types of work we do before and after.
These are photos are of a job that I had already cleared the under brush, removed the trees along the property line, and raised the elevation along the side of the home. The customer wanted a driveway to go to a storage building he was building in the back yard.
I make it a point to get the base of the roadway graded and compacted 4-6 inches below grade. Doing this will produce a base that is solid, rock can then be put down in a uniform thickness. This will insure you will have a long lasting roadway with no soft spots because the rock is to thin. All work is compacted with a vibratory roller for strength and durability.
Pictured is four years of growth, brush was 8-12 feet tall and had bases 6-10 inches. I used a forestry cutter on the larger brush, and a hydraulic bush hog to go over everything. The final result was a lot that was very clean cut and a customer that was very happy.
This lot was located behind a home and was a hazard for the family. It's thick growth was home to many snakes, rats and other pests. I used a forestry cutter and mulched the under growth and trash trees. The final result was a play area with a park like setting. The mulch was used for ground cover and to help prevent regrowth, and erosion.
Another property that shows how a forestry cutter attachment can be used to mulch everything but the hardwood trees. The mulch prevents much of the vegetation from returning for 2 to 3 months.
Debris had to be removed with a root grapple before I could use a hydralic bush hog to cut everything. Next, I used a grader attachment blade so the property would have good drainage. For final grade I used a soil conditioner which created a great seed bed.
More photos of the job above. I finished the work using a soil conditioner. This attachment has a 90 inch long drum with tungsten carbide teeth attached. It spins, breaking up the top 2 to 3 inches of soil, the finer material comes to the top and larger material settling to the bottom. It leaves a layer of fine material about 1 inch thick and compacts the soil below creating a perfect seed bed.
Another property that shows how a forestry cutter attachment can be used to mulch everything but the hardwood trees. The mulch helps keep the soil from washing away and it also holds in moisture for longer periods. At this location, I also cleared the drainage ditch, ensuring the property drains well.
Before work began.
Removed sod, graded, compacted, spead rock, graded and compacted again to finish.
On this location a parking area was needed. All vegetation was removed with a bucket and graded so it would drain well. Then, I compacted everything and spread 4 inches of rock over the entire area with grader attachment. Next, used soil conditioner to get a even blend of material. Finally, used the vibratory roller over entire area to get uniform compaction throughout, preventing areas from getting soft, holding water and becoming pot holes.
This property was holding water in the back. Several loads of dirt were hauled in, spread with bucket, raising the elevation about 12" in the back with a slope to the street of 1" per 10' for good drainage. Next, used the vibratory roller over entire area to get uniform compaction throughout. For final grade, I used soil conditioner attachment which created a great seed bed.
This property was badly over grown, becoming a problem for the neighboring homes. There were complaints of coyotes and other dangerous animals. A forestry cutter attachment was used to mulch everything but the hardwood trees. Resulting in a park like area that gave little to no place for animals to hide.
Property had several years of brush growth. A forestry cutter attachment was used to mulch everything but the hard wood trees. A real advantage to mulching is "nothing to burn or haul off." Mulch holds in moisture and prevents soil erosion.
Before material was spread.
Removed all the larger material and spread it out first, covered it with a mixture of the remaining material and compacted.
Fill material, asphalt, concrete, sand and dirt, had been dumped on this lot to raise the elevation. The asphalt and concrete were used for a base material, spread evenly and compacted. Sand and dirt were mixed together, spread evenly and compacted for the top layer. This allowed the asphalt and concrete to be covered by several inches of material. Used the vibratory roller over entire area to get uniform compaction throughout. For final grade, I used soil conditioner attachment which created a great seed bed.
This blighted property with several years of growth was well past maintaining. A forestry cutter attachment was used to mulch everything. Leaving mulch to cover the ground raises the pH of the soil and prevents regrowth for periods up to 2 months or more. Once the mulch starts to break down, becomes food for the growth of new vegetation and holds in moisture.
The parking area surface was unlevel and held water. Soil conditioner attachment was used to break up and mix the top layers of rock. Then, grader attachment to achieve proper drainage. Next, used the vibratory roller over entire area to get uniform compaction throughout, preventing areas from getting soft, holding water and becoming pot holes. To complete the project a final grade was achieved with soil conditioner and compacted with vibratory roller. Lot was now a solid surface that shed water without ponding. Job was done without the cost of buying more material saving the customer money.
Forestry cutter attachment is used to mulch everything. Depending on the amount of trees mulched, pH level in the soil can be raised from a small to a large amount. In areas with a lot of trees it may take 2 or more months before the area can be seeded. To speed up that process we can remove the mulch from the area. Once mulch ages for a while it is a safe, healthy product to use and is a good product for compost as well.
Another blighted property that was 8 acres, shows how a forestry cutter attachment can be used to mulch everything but the hardwood trees. The mulch helps keep the soil from washing away, holds in moisture for longer periods and prevents regrowth up to 2 months. A house floated onto the property during Katrina, some of it standing but most was down. We separated all the hazardous materials, loaded it into a dumpster to be taken to the recycler. The rest was treated as regular waste and hauled to the landfill.
This is a new development, the elevation had to be raised so the home would be built above flood stage. We went a little above grade so the customer could achieve a plus 1 on flood insurance. Material brought in was sand, spread and compacted in layers of no more than 10 inches bottom to top for complete compaction. The outer edge of site had a layer of dirt to keep everything in place during construction and avoid erosion. The customer was very pleased with the results and is waiting for the home to be completed so we can finish grade the remaining yard.
More photos of the job above. You can see the height of the grade by looking at the fence in the back of the first picture here. The company doing the foundation work was very impressed because their grade shots showed it to be right on the mark. He said, "This never happens, you have the whole site right on grade."
The customer had a piece of property he wanted to put a moblie home on for his daughter. It was very overgrown and needed to be cleared. I used the forestry cutter to mulch all of the area.
